ROBERTSON OVAL REDEVELOPMENT UPDATE AS AT 21/3/12
Unfortunately Robertson Oval will be unavailable for use in season 2012. The WWCC has decided that due to the unforseen rain event & subsequent flooding the option of laying the turf in late April was not feasible as they were concerned that if the weather turned cold the root system would not be able to establish. Whist it is disappointing that we will be unable to use the ground this year, it is a small off field hurdle and the football and netball coaching staff along with all the players believe that "the balls the same, the goalposts are the same, the game plan is the same & the commitment is still the same no matter where we play". As Gav said to me "BEWARE THE CAGELESS TIGER".
The benefit of the upgrade was not going to be for just one year, but for the next 25 years and the inconvenience of not playing there this year (8 games) is a small price to pay for what will be a spectacular venue. Much better to have it done right, than rushed and half baked.
Off field we will need all the support we can muster whether it be helping on game days in whatever capacity you can, however small, or attending club functions. We all need to show the TIGER SPIRIT as every club & supporter within the football community will be waiting for us to falter, give up, say it's too hard. This is not the TIGERS I know. We will succeed; we will grow & become a closer knit club because of it.
We would like to thank Jarrod Bryant at WWCC for his honesty & help in regards to the upgrade and the year ahead. East Wagga Kooringal FC has also been more than accommodating allowing us to train & play at Gumly Oval for the rest of the year.
