Round 7 Game Day Roundup v Coolamon

FOOTBALL

YUK, that was the word on most people lips as they rose to a bleak Saturday in Wagga. A big test at 2.15 pm for the seniors was all the talk and a potential upset in the greasy conditions was the whisper!

The Under 17’s started the day off with a handy win in the wet. Zac Parker slots 5 big boys from everywhere! , Stainesy had his best game of the year, the usual suspects, Wadley, Yates and co were at their best , Wakefield kicks two and have really showed some good signs of becoming a very good team.

The Magoos had a day out really, Jacob “ Ozzy “ Osbeiston again pushed for senior selection with a BOG performance in the wet. Ash Dick and Matt Noonan are battling it out for leading goal kicker, 5 to Ash and a pair to Nug not bad in the snot fellas!! Lahn Shepard had the tools out and was rewarded with a BOG performance, Sammy Schirmer continues to poll well and Nicko Ryan made his anticipated return and didn’t disappoint, another 100 point touch up for the opposition.

The Seniors started with a BANG, taking a handy lead into quarter time, the ys came with their game faces on. Coach Gamble  was in and under it all day and snagged 3 big boys, Dale Walker was  a hard man to get past, Flanno had a bit and Jake Gaynor was a man possess relishing the greasy condition and was clearly the closest player to ground level when standing up ! In memory I cannot recall having the Hoppers at 0.0.0 at half time in any year a solid effort from the back six. Nick McCormack had his best game for the club and Pat O’Connell was again solid. A Massive game this week against the Lions on their home deck

NETBALL

Saturday morning was looking pretty bleak with all the storms and rain forecast. As it turned out the decision to play indoors and stay out of the elements was a prosperous one. With all netball grades beating the Hoppers on Saturday. The day began with the Under 17’s stamping their authority on their opposition gaining a big lead by half time allowing them to come home strong and dominate the court in every area. C grade also won easily and outclassed their Coolamon opposition. If you haven’t heard B grade had another win in a close game; making that two weeks in a row. Next week will see if they can come up with the hat trick, keep it up girls. A reserve made ground at will in the centre court and with tight defence allowed the shooters every opportunity to score valuable points. A grade began slowly finishing the first quarter with a lead of seven goals. The girls demonstrated moments of brilliance throughout the match but failed to concentrate for a full sixty minutes. However, they were still able to come home with the points and won by ten goals. Next week will see us play away at Ganmain for another challenging day. Great work Tigers!
