Round 16 Game Day Round Up v Coolamon

FOOTBALL

Great to see some sunshine across the Riverina, sort of smells a little like Finals Footy is just around the corner. The weekend saw the lads head out to Kindra Park to try and claim a win on a deck we have struggled on the past few years in the seniors. Well they did it in empathic style and the 1St Grade has now sown up Minor Premiers for 2016. Reward for effort but not the silverware the club is chasing!!!

The Under 17’s started as usual with a gritty close margin win,. Looked in loads of trouble early, down by 30 points at the first change they ran home worthy winners by 3 digits at the final horn. Col was looking jaded at full time!! Award winners A. Bennett, M. Wadley, W. Carroll, S. McGowan, H. Bennett, X. Lyons were the catalyst in the come from behind win, but many other helpers who won their spot when it mattered. The boys are looking cherry ripe for the spring carnival.
The magoos gave the Hoppers a football lesson, not that I think the Hoppers gave a proverbial as they were more focused on beating the player than the ball!!!! Some heated moments and some less than favourable incidents from the Coolamon outfit. A touch up of over 100 points made the taste a little better at full time. Sammy Lucas slotted another 5 but was a tad more accurate this week, Corey ‘speedball “Lucas also had a day out. Scott Pearce just gets the job done each week, Nathan Cooke is red hot at the minute and will be hard stop come finals time, Beardy was good and the rest played an even four q’s of footy.

The seniors had not had win out here for quite a few seasons, and didn’t they produce a Usain Bolt ,‘out of the blocks and had em on toast early’ A massive first half set up a comfortable near 100 point win against the Hoppers.
Johnny Buchanan has hit some form late with another lazy 6, Brady Morton the other notable goal kicker with 4 bangers. Dale Walker was dominant down back early and swung forward to be dangerous. Ozzy Osbeiston was again hard on the inside. Birthday Boy ‘Big D Meister Morton’ has his fair share Coach Campbell was busy as a one armed bricklayer and the rest I couldn’t split. Lahn Shepard got knocked around a bit, Nick McCormack was his reliable self and good to see Flanno get a touch. A team effort heading into September
This week we face a rampant Lions outfit, looking to spoil the party coming of a solid win against the Crows.
