Round 11 Game Day Round Up v Collingullie

FOOTBALL

The seniors had a real hard hit out against the Demons on their home deck last week slippery conditions,  the smaller ground and local home ground knowledge had the Demons in the mix up until half time when the Tiger boys flexed their muscles got the ‘rub of the green’  so to speak and ran away worthy 40 point winners.

Some notable plays none more than Paddy “ globetrotter” O’Connell flicking one through the legs as he pirouetted 3 times and came out the other side with the cherry still in hand !! ‘CLEVARRR’ as Bruce would say! Dale ‘The BIG D ‘Walker was BOG down back, I’ve said it before the man is like a Peters Drumstick “unbeatable “. Dyl Morton partner in crime through his body round like a rag doll. Brendy Myers chimed in where needed, Campbell Lovell was busy, Jake Gaynor had a day and coach Shaun Campbell struggled to wash the word ‘SHERRIN’ off is hands later on. All in all a solid win in trying conditions.

The twos was a tight affair also, I must take the opportunity though to mention a belated shout out to Nathan ‘Cookie ‘ Cooke who clunked one last week that had CASSA asking if he had a licence to be in the air that long !! It was Special. Ben Farrell again had a day out in the early time slot, Sam Schirmer again in the votes, Wil Morley had a tough job but handled with poise, Nug Noonan slotted another 4 and one from the paint outside 50!! Scotty Pearce has put his hand up to be back in the later time slot, 60 point winners at the end of the day was a gallant effort at the Cross Roads.

The Under 17’s has a 50 point win against a quality Gullie side. Zac Parker kicked six for a mention but Ash Bennet was just brilliant all day and won every contest, young J Mascini keeps bobbing up in the best each week, Dejong and Mitch Wadley both get another mention this week, a pretty good win coming off a heavy loss last week ‘Boog’ and Col have the boys gelling at the right end of the season and the lads are starting to look Cherry Ripe for the Spring Carnival in September

NETBALL

A day of mixed results for the girls out at Crossroads oval. We started with a convincing win by the Under 17’s, 37-14 with Laura McMahon getting players player. This was followed by a close game for C grade unfortunately losing by 6 Kate Hurst displayed a gallant effort and some great skills. B Grade displayed they have what it takes under pressure winning 38-36 with Sophie King shooting some invaluable goals. Reserve grade are also improving each week winning convincingly 53-29 with some great defence, particularly Grace Cornell.

A disappointing loss for A grade saw them lose 46-39. A brilliant start to the game with some great full court passages of play saw the girls go into the 3rd quarter with a lead of five goals. Unfortunately a lapse of concentration and loss of possession allowed Gullie back into the game. Better players were Anna Ryan, Josie Daniher, Rachael Addison and Jess Allen.
