Tigers Father & Son Weekend
The weekend was a great success with some great games of football enjoyed by all. Firstly a big thank you to Paul Lucas who organised the event from everyone who attended.
After the bus left exactly on 10.00am on Saturday a relaxing trip seemed to take no time at all and all of a sudden we had arrived at our accommodation. Once checked in it was straight to the MCG for the Richmond v Essendon clash with the Bombers prevailing by 20 odd points after the Tigers controlled the game for 3 qtrs. To everyones surprise we all made it back to the bus in relatively good time with Milton the only person to get lost and delay the bus departure time. Evaluation sheets completed by all gave Luco an average of 8 out of 10 for organising this part of the trip. Once back to the hotel it was lights out for all as a big day followed.
As the sun rose behind the dark clouds on Sunday morning the usual breakfast pilgrimage was made across the road for pancakes or bacon & eggs. From there it was free time with the majority of fathers & sons making their way to the Ten Pin Bowling ally to watch Anthony Lyons craft his skill with some impressive bowling. Luco was proud of his double strike, Gav McMahon made the pins shudder whenever he took to the lane clocking over 35 km on the speedo, but most importantly the kids had a bundled of fun with smiles for ear to ear. Some of the father and son duo's went to the Motorshow to view the impressive chassis's on display for viewing.
From there off to the MCG again to watch Collingwood & Nth Melbourne, which was a wet, cold and disappointing game, Collingwood winning by a big margin. Needless to say the evaluation sheets were not flattering of Luco's efforts here, with an average of 2 out of 10, some indicating they would have given him a 6 out of 10 if it had of been any other side other than Collingwood. Patrick Byrne lifted the tempo here, and had able wingman in Luco and John Keough to assist him.
Straight out of the G and to Etihad for the best game of the weekend to watch Carlton v Western Bulldogs. The Hubbard and Lodge families were decked out in the Carlton gear but their support didn't help with the Bulldogs just getting across the line in a game of two halves. With Patrick Byrne still leading from the front it was game on in the outer and after the game there was a vast array of events to cater for everyones needs ranging from Movies, in Hotel room picnics, waterview meals, Chinatown feeds to name a few. Majority of evalution forms were not submitted after this game which leads to one conclusion that everyone really enjoyed this game.
Once again after the usual breakfast we were all back on the bus and heading for home with only Paul McGowan and Finn Hubbard having a bad case of travel sickness on the way home.
Once again big thanks to Luco and Milt for the weekend we all look forward to next year.
Watch this space for some pictures of the weekend.
